$2000 feed grant from After the Finish Line

We are grateful to this organization for helping us support our off-track Thoroughbreds (OTTBs). Dawn Mellen, founder of After the Finish Line, and its Board of Directors, awarded this grant to buy hay and feed for our Thoroughbred ex-racehorses.

Aug. 5, 2012 - PRLog -- It was a much appreciated grant because in May our herd grew to 13 ex-racehorses with the rescue of Cold Prince who sustained an injury on the final day of racing at Turf Paradise (May 6) and Josephine’s Hope who we rescued while the Preakness was being televised on May 19.  She had been dumped in the desert and was found by the Arizona Dept. of Agriculture/Livestock.  Instead of taking her to auction they called us when they realized she was a tattooed, Thoroughbred, ex-racehorse.  In June we added one more OTTB, Dr. Fun Love “Tino”, whose owner had died–and now we have 14 Thoroughbred ex-racehorses in our herd.

After the Finish Line  is a nationally recognized 501(C)(3) funding non-profit for Thoroughbred racehorses that are transitioned off the racetrack into a second career. The donations they receive help support Thoroughbreds at rescue organizations across the United States while they await adoption. They are committed to the welfare of these horses. They exist to honor and respect the Thoroughbreds and ensure they have a quality of life when they are done racing.
