ArtisTech Media Signs Ukulele Singer-Songwriter Kara Square

Aug. 2, 2012 - PRLog -- Next Gen music label Artistech Media is pleased to announce its partnership with ukulele singer-songwriter Kara Square, and is releasing “Start Each Day with Love” as a TuneTrack single today.  “Start Each Day with Love” is a mushy-gushy, heartfelt folk pop ukulele love song that expresses the importance of love, including the love one should give oneself.

“I view love as universal and boundless,” Kara Square shares.  “After writing a couple love songs, I realized that doing so is actually political since I identify as a lesbian.  This inspired me to create an album that focuses on the similarities in all loving relationships.  Using a ukulele for these love songs feels especially fitting with its naturally uplifting and happy sound.”

“Start Each Day with Love” is the first single from Kara Square’s “Love Songs For Everyone But Especially Uke.” The album is comprised entirely of folk pop ukulele love songs and the first single embodies its’ sugary-sweet feel.

“I release all of my songs on ccMixter.  I feel like I’m freeing my music, sharing the love.  This talented international community has remixed my music over 250 times.  Each of these remixes are special to me,” Kara reflects.  “People I haven’t even met connect with my songs so much that they spend concentrated time with them and create their own versions.  It feels like the ultimate songwriting compliment.  Many of the remixes are more intricate and well-produced than anything I could even imagine!  It truly blows my mind.”

Kara Square is half of the TuneTrack signed duo Team Smile and Nod (“Look Both Ways Before You Die” [2008], “Mourning Time” [2011], “Dust From the Stars” [upcoming release]).  She began her solo effort in 2010 by recording comedy songs and videos as Mind Map That.  Many of her videos have gained interest on YouTube.   “How Do Lesbians Have Sex?” has been viewed over 22,000 times and “Polydactyl Super Cat” has had over 10,000 YouTube views. “Think About Poop” won Water For People’s Support a Movement Video Competition in December of 2010.  As Kara recorded her comedy songs, she posted each track’s stems on the Creative Commons remix website ccMixter.org.  Based on her enthusiastic participation on ccMixter and her choice to embrace Creative Commons, she was invited to be an Admin on ccMixter in August of 2011.  Her music has been released on many compilation albums including “Free! Music! Sampler Freeloaded” (2010), ccMixter’s “Emergence” (2011), Lawrence Lessig and ccMixter’s “Strike the Root” (2011), and CMR Ohio’s “Occupy Columbus” (2011).  Her vocals are featured on acclaimed Turkish musician, Murat Ses’ newest album “Light Cone” (track 2, “Chiral of Past”).  A re-mastered collection of her comedy songs will be released in an upcoming album called “Mind Map That: Humorous Songs from Unmappable Territory.”
