Carter points out that Missouri's independent-style voters do not want to hear "liberal" and "conservative" garbage talk. That's why he is campaigning on a pledge to treat the Missouri Lt. Governor's office like the part-time position it is . . .
"The word 'conservative' has become meaningless just like its supposed counterpart 'liberal'. I am in disbelief at the over-use of the meaningless words. No one means them, understands them or wants anyone to ask him/her what in the heck a candidate means by using the meaningless words. It's like saying the phrase 'by and large;' sure, people sort of know what you mean but have no idea what the words really mean -- I think 'by and large' was some sailor terminology about boats passing through rough water."
