SCC Healthcare Group Breaks Ground on Broadmoor Medical Resort in Rockwall

Aug. 1, 2012 - PRLog -- SCC Healthcare Group announces it has officially broken ground in Rockwall on Broadmoor Medical Resort – a $10 million, 52,000 square foot, post-hospital recovery, skilled nursing and long-term care community.  

Broadmoor Medical Resort is the first new skilled nursing community to be built in Rockwall since the 1950s, and will be the only designated Diabetes Education Center in Rockwall.  The community is scheduled to open in early 2013.  The project will create 130 new jobs with an annual payroll of approximately $4.6 million.  

From hotel-style recovery suites to large HD televisions to resort-like amenities, Broadmoor Medical Resort will offer unique, comfortable surroundings that feel like home, said Shane Lewis, partner of SCC Healthcare Group.

“Your environment plays a part in your body’s ability to heal,” said Lewis.  “We plan to create an environment that is welcoming to our guests and their families. Our goal is to provide excellent medical care and the comforts of home.  The better our guests feel about their surroundings, the more likely they are to stay for the duration to complete the healing process.”

“We want to move away from the traditional, sterile health care climate,” said Don Miller, managing partner of SCC Healthcare Group.  “Our medical resort will not have the feel of a rehabilitation center or skilled nursing community.  It will feel more like an upscale experience in a hotel.”

Various levels of physical, occupational, speech, ultrasound, electronic stimulation, wound and IV therapy provided by a seasoned team of rehabilitation professionals will be available.  Admission to Broadmoor Medical Resort will be initiated by a physician, hospital social worker, or discharge planner.  The primary service area will include Rockwall, Heath, Rowlett and surrounding communities.
