Getting into the Christmas spirit

It might seem like a long way away but hotels and other hospitality businesses are already turning their attentions to Christmas. Get a head start by booking a Christmas shopping break now, one less thing to worry about when things get busy.

July 30, 2012 - PRLog -- Christmas is a time of peace, love and goodwill to all but with the busy Christmas shopping period, house and food preparation it can easily become stressful for some.

Why not take a load off this Christmas and go out for a festive lunch with the family, instead of slaving over a hot stove all day?  Plenty of hotels, pubs and restaurants across the country from Hertfordshire to Hartlepool, Scunthorpe to Southampton, offer a scrumptious Christmas menu which appeals to all the family.

It is best to make a Christmas lunch reservation as early as possible to ensure you secure your place at your favourite restaurant.  Many establishments will ask for a small deposit to finalise your booking and you will probably need to provide your choices from the set menu in advance.

The great thing about eating out on Jesus’ birthday is the choice of food.  For those that aren’t that keen on turkey with all the trimmings, followed by Xmas pudding with brandy butter, at a restaurant there will be many other less-traditional dishes on offer – so there is something to suit everybody from traditionalist grandad to fussy child!

It might be a good idea not to travel too far afield for your meal so you don’t lose half of your special family day to travel time.  Choosing a venue really close to you means all adults could have a few sneaky tipples and enjoy a winter walk home.

Some hotels are set in beautiful grounds and are decorated beautifully for the festive season – becoming a winter wonderland.  Choosing this type of venue for a Christmas lunch could provide a bit of festive magic for the kids and become even better if it snows.

Eating out can be expensive especially around certain religious holidays, although prices will vary from venue to venue. But can you put a price on a stress-free Christmas? By letting someone else take on the burden of cooking just think of the amount of time saved, the increased amount of family time together, the high-quality chef-prepared food on offer and most importantly no mountain of washing up!

So as the holiday season approaches, consider booking your family in for Christmas lunch at a local hotel or restaurant and feel your worries of an undercooked turkey and soggy brussel sprouts fading away.

All you will need to focus on is getting your shopping done, making your house look extra special and stocking up on the obligatory bottle of Baileys. Come Christmas Day you can sit back and relax, enjoy family time, the Queen’s speech and an extra dramatic episode of Eastenders.

“I’m dreaming of a white Christmas….. (free of cooking disasters and stress)…..just like the one’s I used to know” Happy Christmas!
