San Diego To Field Arguably The Strongest Co-Ed Team In The US In A Unique Exhibition Game
The NPSL National Championships kick-off day two of the three day soccer showcase with a San Diego Pro Soccer Exhibition match with the Flash (NPSL) & Sealions (WPSL) at 3pm and the third place playoff at 7pm.
The game which is scheduled for a 3pm kick-off at Del Norte High School will see members of both squads join forces to play out which will arguably be the two strongest co-ed teams in San Diego!
Following the exhibition game the National Championships return with the third place play off between the Bay Area Ambassadors and Madison 56ers. Both teams were eliminated from championship contention last night in two vastly different semi-final games.
The Madison 56ers were comprehensively beaten 2-0 by the number 1 ranked FC Sonic (U.S. Soccer Report Rankings as of July 17) and they will play off for the national title tomorrow against Chattanooga FC who were cruising at half-time with a 2-0 lead over the Western Conference Champion Ambassadors only to squeeze home 3-2 after 90 minutes.
Today’s schedule of events (times in PST);
3pm – San Diego Flash (NPSL) & San Diego Sealions (WPSL) exhibition game
7pm – Bay Area Ambassadors (California)
Flash CEO, Clent Alexander said he was looking forward to seeing his team have an on-field role to play in this weekend’s soccer celebrations.
“We would like to thank the Sealions for accepting our offer to showcase our cities two premier pro teams. Not only is it a unique concept (to play a mixed game), but a chance to grab new levels of exposure for the club both locally and nationally.
“When we decided to bid for the hosting rights for this event we wanted to put on a well-organized weekend that pushed the boundaries of the game and had people talking about San Diego as a true soccer city.
“Together with our social media outreach and the quality of play on the field, I think we have achieved those goals already and that the local community acknowledges this through the support of the Championships over the final two days of competition and the ongoing support of our local pro teams.”Mr. Alexander said.
