New Delhi.27th July:S J Foundation has invited applications from NGO’s seeking grants / endowments and are working towards social upliftment for the weaker sections of the society through www.sitaramjindalfoundation.org. S J Foundation has been giving grants and recurring donations to NGO’s since its inception in 1969. During the last 15 years, the S J Foundation has donated more than Rs.  200 Crores towards charitable activities.
S J Foundation is giving recurring and non-recurring donations to charitable institutions throughout the country. At present about 500 such institutions are receiving donations from the Foundation every year. Large amounts of non recurring donations are also provided to various institutions for construction of hospitals, school buildings, medical equipments etc. Recurring and Non recurring donation to the tune of Rs. 29.33 Crores were disbursed during 2011-12.

It was felt at S J Foundation that a single institution however big cannot solve all ills facing the country thus an act of broadbasing the social upliftment of the country by granting endowments to other like-minded NGO’s across the length and breadth of the country was conceived way back in 1969. It was felt that financially supporting likeminded NGO’s will help catalyse social development towards the poor and downtrodden. This was the initial reason of disbursing Grants and Endowments. Today, Endowments are disbursed and administered by S J Foundation on the basis of activities of the NGO’s and their contribution to the society across various social acts. Criteria and eligibility requirements are available on the website. Apart from these grants, the foundation also provides scholarships to around 12000 students each year.

The Foundation has been discharging its social responsibilities towards the Society by providing funds and facilities to other organizations thereby encouraging others to help in social upliftment activities. While spending money on charitable activities, it is ensured that money donated is properly utilised, proper verification and cross checks are made before and after giving donations are disbursed etc.

Patron  of  The  Foundation  &  CMD  of  Jindal  Aluminum  Limited,  Dr.  Sitaram  Jindal  says,  “The Foundation, dedicated to the service of mankind since 1969, has been extending a helping hand to the poor and downtrodden, howsoever small, in creating awareness for the cause of education as well as health with emphasis on nature cure and Yoga and in areas of rural development. Social service has traditionally been a part of the Indian culture. I will be satisfied to have lived a purposeful life if I can do my bit for this noble cause.”

Established in the year 1969, the Sitaram Jindal Foundation is an apolitical, non-religious and charitable trust in the field of education, health and social service. The foundation, besides extending financial support to other charitable institutions, has also directly set up several educational institutions and hospitals. The Foundation also assists the poor and deserving students through scholarships. For further information please visit – www.sitaramjindalfoundation.org or www.sjfprize.org
