July 26, 2012 - PRLog -- Rodger Delany’s solo album “Moment of Truth” is one of those singer-songwriter efforts that hits you right in the face with emotions—longing, desperation, anger, deception, patriotism, love, loss—with a bare-bones approach that makes you feel as if you are in the songs, too.

Mostly acoustic guitar-driven, the songs traverse personal awakenings (“Moment of Truth”), aging(“New”), the pressure to do the right thing(“Out on the Edge”), love (“Every Time,” “Catch Me When I Fall”) and maintain one’s sanity (“Somebody Like You”).  But the piano-based songs are the ones that really stand out.  The longing expressed in “Mischief” is more pronounced with a solo piano and Tom Petty-like voicing.  “Still Love America” offers plaintive piano, making it ripe for a 2012 political campaign’s video background.

Elsewhere, the album jumps out at the listener with anger (“Blind”) over a break-up (and its equally angry guitar work), with love (“Every Time”) in an upbeat change-of-pace and with eternal love (“Afterlife”) beyond the life we know.

Sixteen songs with sixteen raw emotions.  Delany’s “Moment of Truth” CD requires the kind of attentive listening that used to come with LP purchases, when you couldn’t leave the room.
