Follow on Google News | Major Oil and Gas Company Implementing Mobile Reach SplitwareRefining ServiceNow Asset Management Process with Barcode / RFID Scanning
By: Mobile Reach Capitalizing on a trend in which mobile and RFID technologies are saving the oil and gas industry billions of dollars per year, the company’s IT department will incorporate scanners, barcoded asset tags, and passive RFID to immediately capture asset data within its SaaS-based IT Service Management system, ServiceNow. Featuring offline capabilities for remote areas with little or no connectivity, Splitware mobile applications will automate as much data capture within the ServiceNow asset module as possible to reduce data entry errors. All actions will be tracked and real-time updates made to assets, allowing enhanced visibility into IT operations, inventory, and service levels. The Splitware Mobility Platform was selected for the project because of its flexibility, security, and ease of deployment in building, deploying and managing secure mobile applications. Splitware mobile apps will run on Motorola MC3191Z mobile devices used by Help Desk and Asset Technicians to read 1D and 2D barcodes, as well as RFID asset tags. Device native mobile applications include Asset Receive, Asset Lifecycle, and Blind Inventory. These apps are customized for the company’s specific ServiceNow environment, but are based on Mobile Reach Splitware out-of-the-box ServiceNow mobile applications.
