Washington, DC (July 26, 2012)- Last Saturday evening, UNAIDS, One.org, Business Leadership Council and the Nelson Mandela Foundation hosted “Uniting For An AIDS-Free Generation.” Sheléa sang her heart out with The African Children’s Choir; she performed “I Look To You.” She sang to an intrigued audience that loved and applauded her sweet voice and melody. “To be a part of such a significant evening was a true joy. I was proud to be a part of the fight against AIDS,” said Sheléa. The evening was filled with music, storytelling and advocacy and was held on the eve of the 2012 International AIDS Conference. This year marks the first time the United States hosted the conference in more than twenty-two years. Additionally, the event took the audience on an amazing journey through the history of the AIDS epidemic and the world’s remarkable response to it. A host of high profile celebrities participated in the event, including Jurnee Smollett; Jason Glaser, son of Elizabeth Glaser; former First Lady Barbara Bush; and Kweku Mandela, the grandson of Nelson Mandela. They lent their voices in solidarity for people living with and affected by HIV/AIDS. The event served as a vehicle to look to the future of AIDS and unite participants around our common goal of an AIDS-free generation. For press inquiries, please call Karen Lewis at 323.556.2811. End
