July 26, 2012 - PRLog -- Atlanta, GA – More than just celebrating fireworks and freedoms during the country's birthday month, 9-year-old Cody Jackson, of Atlanta, Georgia, found his own patriotic honor for US armed service members.

Centuries ago, boys were conscripted to serve as standard bearers and drummers; now, boys in the United States no longer have to think about forced military service. But young Jackson thinks that children should at least know the sacrifices our dedicated troops make for all of us. He wrote, designed, and published Pint-Sized Patriots: Coloring and Activity Book, which is aimed at teaching kids more about patriotism. He is currently working on a storybook companion to that book: Pint-Sized Patriots: Standing Tall. He became known as the One Boy USO for personally greeting and thanking more than 12,000 troops at the Atlanta airport. He has appeared on several national programs and most recently proudly displayed his book for a Fox & Friends Salutes the Troops segment: http://video.foxnews.com/v/1725346101001/little-boy-big-m.... He is on the July cover of Points North Magazine in Atlanta and regularly attends civic and on-base events to honor military members.

He first vocalized his interest in helping service people as a four-year-old after his mom answered his question "Why is it so hard to get on an airplane?" and explained to him what happened on 9/11.

Cody donates much of the proceeds from his books to help fund care packages to ship to deployed troops. Cody says he wants to do this because, “they’re risking their lives fighting for our freedom and our country.”

He has written other children's books, including the upcoming picture book Pint-Sized Patriots: Standing Tall, to share his love of America and the military, and hopes to help other children love their country and troops as much as he does.

Kelly Jackson, Cody’s mom, said, “Not many adults grasp what we’re asking of our men and women in uniform, so it’s pretty amazing to have a child who is inspired to thank them as much as he can.”

Cody’s storybook is due to be released later this year. He will be doing a book tour including bookstores, military bases, and community events over the next several months.
