WhaTheHair Salon & Beyond kicks off back-to-school drive

July 25, 2012 - PRLog -- For Kali Dempaire, the right equipment matters when she steps up to the plate or heads into Whathehair Salon to style her clients.

"And kids need the right stuff when they start school," she said. "It does a lot for their self esteem.

On Sunday August 5, 2012 1pm-6pm, in the Kroger Plaza at the Corner of South Hairston and Redan. Featuring Food and Fun for the Entire Family. Come out and enjoy the Food Fresh off the Grill. Kids Moonwalk Activities. Good Music and More in the last Hoorah of the Summer!

Whathehair will help kick off back to school drive to encourage people to donate backpacks, pencils and other school supplies.

"I've lived here long enough to gain an appreciation for this community and how it gives back," said Dempaire, who is a mom herself.
 
"People may not think that pencils and a backpack make a difference, but it does," she said.
 
What they need?

The biggest need is not clothing but supplies, especially backpacks. The drive needs 24-count boxes of crayons, pencils, colored pencils, 12-inch wood or plastic rulers, child-safe plastic or metal scissors, wide-ruled 72-page spiral notebooks, rubber erasers, pencil sharpeners and glue sticks (no bottles).

Any clothing donated must be new, not used, and in sizes for kids in kindergarten through sixth grade.

Also if you know of a family in need drop by the salon and pick up a nomination form to aid someone in our community to help them be properly prepared for school from day 1!

We are also looking for Vendors to help out with this Community Event. Booth Space is Available. Non Competitive First come first serve.
