Buttons & Bows Preschool To Celebrate 45th Year, Hosts Open House

Historic preschool honors founder and continues program in Puyallup.

July 23, 2012 - PRLog -- In 1967, Barbara Cordes wanted to start her own business so her husband, Karl, renovated their barn and Buttons & Bows Preschool began. Forty-five years later students are still enjoying the program the teacher, lovingly known to her students as Ms. Barbara, created. On Sunday, July 29 and Monday July 30, from 1-3pm at 8622 112th Street E Puyallup, new students and returning families will celebrate her life and visit with the teachers during this annual event on Puyallup’s South Hill. Ms. Barbara passed away in March at the age of 92, having only retired a few years earlier. Her three children hope to continue the legacy by keeping the well-known school open. “Providing a strictly educational preschool program where students could socialize and learn was my mother’s vision,” said her daughter Christy Cordes Elander. “Integrating this vision with music was her passion.”

The annual Open House event is also open to new families interested in enrolling their preschool aged children in the program. Teachers will be available to answer questions and light refreshments will be served.
