Stand Up Paddleboard Tour Hits Every Coast In The Country

Fuacata Sports, LLC, exclusive distributor of Jimmy Lewis kite, paddle, and surfboards invested in a highly customized Sprinter Van and drove samples of nearly every board that Jimmy makes around the country.  The tour started in Florida two months ago, went through Texas, drove up the entire west coast from San Diego to Seattle, then over to the Great Lakes and Maine, and finally down the entire East Coast back to Florida.

Ken Russell, one of the owners of Fuacata Sports believes that the tour was the best possible spend of their marketing budget this year.  "There's nothing better than getting on the road and meeting our customers face to face.  We speak with surf shops around the country every day on the phone, but shaking hands and hitting some waves together is the way to do business in the surfing world."

Jimmy Lewis who celebrates 45 years of shaping surfboards next year, joined the tour from San Diego to San Francisco.  "Even though the sport is pretty new, there are so many brands of stand up paddleboard out there already.  The best way to explain why mine are the best is to hand a board to someone and let them ride it."

On the tour, Jimmy and the crew met lots of new shops and riders who will be carrying the Jimmy Lewis brand in the future.  The van was piloted by Shane Webb who drove the 10,000+ miles.  Although it was a lot of driving, Shane, a longboarder and stand up paddle instructor, got to surf every break along every coast of the entire country--Possibly a dream job come true.

Stand Up  Paddleboarding (SUP) has been around for about 7 years.  The sport is growing incredibly fast as there is no need for special skills or conditions.  Jimmy has been selling SUPs since the first year they were introduced.  Jimmy was one of  the early pioneers of kiteboarding, which has recently been accepted as an Olympic Sport for 2016.
