Despite being multi-millionaires, owning a fortune in ranchland in the Porcupine Hills south of Calgary, Alberta, Canada, he and his brother Harold were frugal. The bachelor brothers lived like paupers and they were eccentric. Many stories about them were true, but they never ate a mouse sandwich. Their neighbour and friend Mary-Jo Burles made that clear in her book
