24 Horas Frigo de Motociclismo

July 18, 2012 - PRLog -- There is nothing as exciting as an endurance motorcycling race. The challenge that is set out for the motor bikers is tough and difficult because the race tests all their skills. Since there can only be one winner, they have to beat all odds and competitions to win the endurance race. Those who were lucky enough to spend their holidays in Barcelona at the beginning of the month had the chance to watch one. From 6th to 8th July, the Circuit de Catalunya hosted the 18th edition of 24 horas Frigo de Motociclismo. There were more than 150 riders in the race and around 47 teams. This high caliber endurance test was included in the FIM (Federation International de Motocyclisme) International Endurance Event.
This year, it was really difficult to identify the strongest team. Yamalube Folch Endurance team, Suzuki Catala Dunlop team, Team Monlau , Team Lout Moto 33 and many other competent teams participated this year.  Yamalube Folch Endurance team (Checa-Monge-Martinez/Yahama-Tizon) was the winner of the previous edition and had won 24 Horas Frigo de Motociclismo challenge seven times. While Suzuki Cata Dunlop team has five victories in their record, the highlight of this endurance challenge was the fact that 25 out of 47 teams were from France. There was also a French team that only had female members (Naud-Herfort-Beteli-Locussol/Kawaski). In addition, there was also a team from Belgium and Germany.

Winners of the Race
On 6th July, it was the perfect day for racing. The beautiful Circuit de Catalunya was filled with excited spectators who wouldn’t wait for the race to begin. The admission was free. The Dunlop Catalan Team Suzuki (Love-Homes-Bonastre-Alacrcos) won the race by completing 736 laps at the end of 24 hours. Last year’s winner Yamalube Folch Endurance came second, followed by the French Louit Moto Team.
The Dunlop Catalan Team Suzuki must have felt extreme pressure during the race because their lead was in jeopardy a number of times. According to Team member Xavi Love, luck was in their favor and the fact together the members make a great team. Josep Monge from Folch Endurance Yamalube said that he had participated in 14 races in 24 Horas Frigo de Motociclismo and this race was one of the toughest. He felt that that his team would have won the race if their bikes hadn’t stopped right at the end of the race. Still, his team is happy to be second in the race.
The race was sponsored by a well-known ice cream brand, Frigo, hence its name “24 Horas Frigo de Motociclismo”.

Circuit de Barcelona is a superb motorsport race track in Barcelona. Built in 1991, it started hosting the Spanish Grand Prix that year itself.
