Indian Doctors Removed Tapeworm from Patients Vocal Cord
Dr. Santosh S along with his expert team has conducted a rare surgery of removing tapeworm from the vocal cord of Anil Kumar at Columbia Asia Hospital, Bangalore.
The medications prescribed to him by the consulted doctor too failed in curing his pain or giving satisfactory response. After proper examination, it was discovered that a grayish semi transparent mass was growing inside his vocal box. The doctor of Columbia Asia hospital, Hebbel, suggested that the parasitic infection found in the vocal box is caused by the tapeworm found in the pig intestine and is a primary reason behind the multi-organ infections.
Talking about the challenges that occur during the surgery, Dr. Santosh S, Consultant ENT, Head and Neck Surgeon, Columbia Asia Hospital said, “What made the treatment challenging was the fact that the worm was lodged right in his voice box. He underwent a surgery last week; where a team of specialists removed the worm after a 2-hours long procedure,"
The patient has completed his recuperation phase properly and has regained his normal voice. "I was quite taken aback by the diagnosis, I never thought that my condition was a result of a tapeworm in my vocal cords," said Harish. Dr. Santosh S along with his consummate team has drafted a good example of medical expertise in the global sphere. Medical success stories like that of Anil Kumar might bring global patients suffering from such problems to the doors of Columbia Asia Hospital in near future.
