Demand for Hospital Cleanliness Leads to Growth in Infection Control Market
Recent public demand for a radical improvement in the standards of hospitals in England and Wales over the last decade has lead to a surge in infection control methods.
An investigation by Frost & Sullivan found the overall revenues of the European infection control market are forecast to expand. Statistics show has already grown from £351.7 million in 2004 to £453.5 million in 2011. Apart from the drive provided by improved infection control measures, standardisation of norms is also likely to spur market growth, as hospitals strive to satisfy new standards by the ISO.
A sharp rise in minimally invasive procedures in recent years is also likely to support market expansion in the infection control field as the equipment needed to disinfect the sophisticated instruments used in such procedures is likely to rise in the long term.
One industry certainly benefiting from the growth in infection control is the medical device sales industry. Nick Langley from medical sales recruitment specialists Advance Recruitment stated, "The exceedingly high demand for infection control tools and devices has also created opportunities for medical sales professionals in what is otherwise a particularly difficult and competitive time for the industry."
"Infection control awareness has been growing for a number of years and continues to grow despite the heavy health expenditure cuts by both the government and European funding. I’m predicting the market could even endure a further boost in revenues as hospitals become privatised and infection control guidelines are improved over the next couple of years".
