Participating Pollo Campero restaurants will carry the new menu item featuring three satisfying flavors starting July 23, 2012.

“Pollo Campero’s distinct flavor has been famous for decades in Latin America.  We are constantly looking for new and different ways to bring our US consumer more of the authentic flavors, aromas and taste of our heritage.  Empanadas are a perfect addition to our menu as they are a popular and familiar Latin food.  We are proud to be the first national brand to bring them to American consumers,” says Pollo Campero Vice President of Marketing Lisken Kastalanych.

Often filled with savory or sweet fillings, these empanadas are unique because they feature the signature Latin spices and herbs that Campero has been famous for over 40 years.  They are made fresh to order with the highest quality ingredients including Campero’s famous chicken that is prepared by hand every day.

The three choices include a Spicy Chicken empanada filled with Campero’s famous juicy chicken, green tomatillo salsa, Monterrey Jack cheese and freshly chopped cilantro; the Citrus Chicken empanada made with Campero chicken, grilled onions, tamarindo sauce and shredded Monterrey Jack cheese; and a Black Bean and Cheese empanada filled with flavorful black beans, Monterrey Jack cheese, fresh cilantro, diced onion, and a touch of smoked chipotle

“With our new empanadas we wanted to take traditional and familiar Latin American food and fill it with a variety of traditional flavors that our customers love. We realize that you can’t get authentic Latin food just anywhere, so we took great care in developing these recipes which we hope will keep customers coming back for more," says Kastalanych.

The new Campero empanadas are available at all nationwide locations and available to purchase individually for $1.49 or as an empanada trio with one of Pollo Campero’s famous side dishes for $6.99 (prices may vary by location).
