July 17, 2012 - PRLog -- Midlands based UK Mail, the established parcels and logistics company, has given Sandy Lane Primary School, Bracknell, a charitable helping hand in raising over £5000 in its Olympic themed summer fete recently.

During the celebrations that took place on Saturday 30th June, the school collected an impressive £4240 in generous donations. UK Mail donated a further £1100, hiking the total up to an astounding £5340; the most the school has ever raised. Sandy Lane Primary School holds a respected charitable status and aims to put the money towards helping children make the most of their educational experience by providing additional reading books for their newly established library and providing more outside play equipment.

Adding a quirky sense of excitement to the day, Parcel Pete, brand mascot for UK Mail’s next day parcel collection and delivery service, also made a special appearance at the school’s 10th successful annual fete.

UK Mail’s CEO Guy Buswell commented, “Parcel Pete was an instant hit with the children and even the parents. It was a fantastic family day out and great to see that the weather didn’t keep people away as all the money raised will be used to provide valuable resources for the school. It was great for us to be involved in such a well-run and enjoyable community event.”

Tying in with this year’s momentous Olympics games just around the corner, the summer fete had everything from; apple bobbing, coconut shy, bouncy castle, football and hook a duck, along with a host of cake stalls. It was truly a day to remember as children and parents came together to enjoy the anticipated event.

Lisa Davey, Operational Support Clerk at UK Mail’s Guildford site approached the company for assistance during the event. Lisa donned the Parcel Pete costume, brand mascot for UK Mail’s next day parcel collection and delivery service to take part in the fun and activities with the children to help raise more funds.

Liz Norris, Head teacher for the school added: “This is the 10th year we have run the event and never have we raised so much money. We would like to thank UK Mail for their support during the event and their kind donation.  All the money raised will go towards buying valuable school resources for the children so we can continue to build a thriving educational community.”
