War Torn, A new Poetic Novel by Kent Nedland

War Torn is an exciting new concept of literature. War Torn was designed as a poetic novel where it has characters, conflicts, and resolutions but written where each chapter is a poem that can stand by itself or as a whole story.

July 17, 2012 - PRLog -- A new book years in the making, War Torn tells the story of five characters in a new dynamic way.  The story is told to its readers using the format of 76 distinct and separate traditional sonnets, but these stories are not about damsels or lost  love.  Each poem unfolds an epic of desperation and betrayal, conflict and power with each of the five character seeking and ultimately suffering for their greatest desires.  Desire that ultimately lead to war, threatening to split Dim-Lou, Delsha and beyond with the scars of war.

The story of War torn takes place in the land of Dim Lou.  A land struggling under the oppressive tithes of the Delshian Empire.  As the Dim Lou King pass, the holy leader Eminence Welsh sees his opportunity to finally  unravel the last scraps of Dim Lou freedom.  His daughter, the princess Issella places greater demands on the farms Dim Lou pushing crops and people to the breaking point.  Farmers such as the young Targe suffer as his land and crops whither and die, all in the name of his new king.

But where Delsha expected Dim Lou to crumble, the new king Legiar, son of the old enslaved king had other plans.  Taught the old ways of the Dim Lou monks in secret, Legiar begins his rule by beginning a systematic removal of Delsha.  With the aid of Saphina, his red haired Matron, Legiar gambles everything on the prospect of war.  To pay for war he melts the golden icons of the Delsha God.  To give life to dying field he strips away last rights demanding that the dead are turned into a sacrifice for the land.  And as his plans push him closer to a conflict with Delsha he strips away both land and choices as a draft turns oppressed farmers into unwilling solders.

Targe, a farm of Dim Lou is taken from his land in placed into the violence of war.  Sustained only by his wage.  Targe survives against all odds through not only brutal training but through battle after battle to become a symbol of Dim Lou's desire for freedom.   Rising through the army from a simple recruit to high rank of general, Targe walks through a sea of blood never losing sight of goal.  The removal of not one but two dictators.

Will Targe and Legiar fall to their anger and ambition condemning the world to whim of Welsh's dark god?  Or will they be able to gather together and put aside their differences to full fill a prophecy created on the snowy night of their birth?  Only together can the two truly achieve what they want and created a create a Dim Lou free of the shadow of the desert god.  Their answers will come at the edge of blades and will take them to the borderlands of death and insanity.

The first of a three part series.  War Torn tells the story of Dim Lou and its struggles to retake not only its past but wages war to conquer its future.  Written by Kent Nedland and published by Lulu press.  War Torn can purchased and previewed at My Author Spotlight on lulu.com
