July 16, 2012 - PRLog -- Front Row Marketing Services, The Ligue de Football Professionnel and Goldrun today announced the launch of an augmented reality app in advance of the Trophee Des Champions match between Ligue 1 champion Montpellier and French Cup Champion Olympique Lyonnais that will give fans around the world a chance to “hold” the TDC in their hands. It is the first time that an augmented reality app has been implemented for a global sporting event. The French “Super Cup,” the annual beginning to the French soccer season, will be decided between the two clubs on Saturday, July 28 3:00 p.m. EDT at Red Bull Arena in Harrison, N.J.

“Sport today is all about fan engagement, and this partnership with Goldrun, a leader in augmented reality creation in the entertainment field, will give fans from around the world a chance to virtually hold and have fun with one of the great prizes in soccer, the French Cup,” said Chris Lencheski, CEO of Front Row Marketing Services, who is helping stage the match.

“We are very excited to take our services to a new global level in sport through this app with the French Cup,” said Shailesh Rao, Co-Founder, Goldrun. “We had great success partnering with the New York Giants and their ring and Super Bowl trophies this past spring, and are looking forward to now taking that type of sport app to a global audience.”

To celebrate this historic match on American soil, the teams are inviting fans from around the world to pose with their trophies. Supporters will share pictures to enter contests in which they can win a VIP ticket package and a trip to New York and the match, courtesy of NYC and company.

PSG is a double winner of the but its last title was in 1998.

The match is organized each year by the French Soccer League, the LFP (Ligue de Football Professionnel), who runs the 2 top divisions in France, Ligue 1 and 2. Ligue 1 has 79 broadcasters in the world, and covers more than 150 countries
