St. Barnabas To Host 5k For The 21st Year Benefitting The St. Barnabas Free Care Fund
This Year’s 5k Is Slated For Saturday, August 4th At St. Barnabas
Proceeds benefit the St. Barnabas Free Care Fund, which in 2011 alone provided nearly $5.2 million to poor and low-income patients at St. Barnabas Nursing Home, Valencia Woods at St. Barnabas and The Arbors at St. Barnabas. The signature sponsor of the St. Barnabas Medical Center 5K Run/Walk is Traco, a division of Kawneer and part of Alcoa’s global building & construction business unit.
“Promoting the health and safety of our employees and our community is one of our core values,” says Tom VanSumeren, General Manager, Traco. “Traco has been a proud sponsor of the St. Barnabas race for 11 years because it aligns with this value, plus it’s a great opportunity to have fun as a team while supporting a good cause.” Each year Traco assembles a corporate team and dozens of team members run and walk in the race to show their support.
The St. Barnabas Medical Center 5K follows an out-and-back course along the rolling terrain of Meridian Road. Runners are timed using a ChampionChip Device provided by The Runner’s High Timing Services and the course is certified by USA Track and Field. Medals are awarded to the top three male and female finishers overall, as well as the top three males and females in 16 age categories. Corporate teams of up to five runners are encouraged to participate and medals will be awarded to the top three teams. Medals for master (age 40 & above) and grand master (age 50 & above) divisions will also be presented.
Registration is $16 by July 27 or $20 after July 27. Early registration guarantees a race t-shirt. To register or for more information call 724-443-0800, ext. 5310 or visit StBarnabas5K.com.
