“Believe In The Power Of Your Vote” Is Theme For MD Statewide Political Gala

July 15, 2012 - PRLog -- Aberdeen, Maryland July 16, 2012- Harford County, MD based non-profit organization, The GrassRoots Steering Foundation, Inc. (GRSF) will host its 2012 MD Campaign Black and White Summer Gala on Saturday, August 4, 2012 at the Clarion Hotel Crystal Ballroom, Aberdeen, Maryland. The event time is 6:00pm-11:00pm.  This event draws political candidates, various political organizations and lay citizens from across Maryland to celebrate election season.  The Black and White Gala climaxes the efforts of the Vote The Power! ™ Campaign.  This campaign is a non-partisan, statewide voter initiative that educates and empowers local Maryland communities to vote.

This year’s theme: “Believe In The Power Of Your Vote”, specifically addresses the unique issues Maryland voters will vote upon this year.  In November 2012, Maryland voters will vote upon three issues that will be placed on the ballot due to petition drives.  The Vote The Power! Campaign has encouraged citizens to register to vote or update their registration information to be eligible to vote in the 2012 election.

The Black and White gala is a unique opportunity to encourage civic engagement, and collective participation by community members to work in conjunction with elected officials to improve local communities and the quality of life.  This approach of making candidates accessible to citizens offers a chance to address the often overlooked economic, educational, and social problems that impacts the average citizen.  Special guest for the evening is Mr. Charles Robinson, Journalist for television show “State Circle” which airs on Maryland Public Television.  Speakers will include MD candidates currently running for federal political office in Maryland.  Representation from the Barack Obama and Mitt Romney Presidential Campaigns will be in attendance.  Ticket price is $37.00 per person which includes: social hour, buffet dinner, dessert, music and dancing.  Ticket sales end July 25, 2012.  For more information, call the campaign headquarters Toll Free at: 1-800-874-8701.
