Local Business Supports 14 Year Old Boy with Leukemia

Josh Garcia is a very smart young man, age 14. Doctors have given him 3 years to live. He has leukemia and is going through his second treatment of chemo therapy. Our team is conducting this event for him on July 20th and 21st.

July 2012, Houston, TX: Ed Garza, Executive Director for The Barnabas Society, a 501(c)3 Non-Profit Organization of Houston, TX, is sponsoring the “Born Latino” BBQ tent (Tent #4) at the Tex-Mex Cook Off starting on Thursday, July 19, 2012 at Almeda Mall located at 12200 Gulf Freeway, Houston, Texas 77075. The event consists of over seventy cooking teams and kicks off with a free night on Thursday evening. The “AC cooled” Born Latino Tent (#4) will be hosting a Charity Mixer on Thursday starting at 4:00pm benefiting a local 14 year old boy named Josh Garcia. Josh is fighting T-Cell Acute Lymphoid Leukemia (ALL), a life threatening form of cancer. A $5 donation or a new toy (Donated to Toys for Tejanos) is requested for entrance into the Born Latino Tent Thursday evening. The Mixer will offer great networking opportunities with business owners and professionals from all around Houston. In addition, attendees will have the opportunity to bid on donated auction items including sports memorabilia from the Texans, Astros and other professional sports teams. Food and cold beverages will be provided.

The festivities and fundraising for Josh, continue both Friday and Saturday evening beginning with a BBQ Dinner served between 6:00 pm and 8:00 pm followed by music, dancing and more Sports Memorabilia auctions. Tickets are required for entrance to the Born Latino Tent in the evenings (cost is $15 each available at www.BornLatino.com). But, Saturday afternoon, from 12pm – 5pm, entrance to the Born Latino Tent is FREE! Attendees will enjoy the “coolest” tent at the Cook Off, when they visit Born Latino’s AC cooled tent for a full afternoon of entertainment from local acoustic musicians, BBQ plates and other food for sale, cold beverages, games and more amazing sports memorabilia items for auction, including items from the Texans, Astros and other professional team sports.
