Real Madrid led the group at the start of the evening, with only a point needed to assure a semi-final berth, but in a tense and often feisty encounter, Real Madrid led with two Velasco goals through at half-time followed by Olaf Lindenberg’s scoring from a controversial penalty for Ajax . But, Ajax produced a stunning late comeback with goals from Kiki Musampa and Dennis Gerritsen ensuring the Dutch outfit went through to the final night of tournament with a 3-2 victory against the Spaniards.

To have any chance of reaching the latter stages, Egypt knew they had to beat UAE Stars by more than nine goals and they threw away any doubt of an upset as they reached double figures before half-time. In the process of scoring 15 goals, the North Africans topped Group A on goal difference, above Ajax.

In other games, AS Roma beat Barcelona 5-3 in a pulsating encounter to top Group B, whilst Morocco Stars took away some pride as they registered their first win of the tournament by beating Nile Stars 8-6 in a lively match.

The Masters tournament is not the only contest to be decided tonight, as the inaugural winner of the Dubai Freestyle Championship will also be named. The competition, organised by Tawasol Media in partnership and sponsored by Excellence Generation with Dubai Sports Council and the Arab Freestyle Football Foundation, will be judged by three Freestyle experts who will crown Dubai’s 1st Freestyle Champion.

In tonight’s semi-finals, Ajax will play AS Roma 7pm and Egypt Stars will play Barcelona at 8pm with the final match between qualifiers taking place at 9pm.

Doors open at 6.00pm. Tickets are available at the venue and through, priced at Dh50 for a standard ticket and Dh120 for a VIP pass. For more information, call 04 3064000.
