July 12, 2012 - PRLog -- Berlin, 12/07/2012. twago, the largest pan-European market place for online work in the programming field, has completed a diverse analysis of the top IT skills for the first half of 2012. This analysis of thousands of projects showed a noticeable trend towards application programmers for iPhone, iPad and Android. As in 2011, PHP and HTML hold on to the top two spots.

HTML5 is a new arrival in the top 10, coming in at number five. Its ability to create dynamic website content is making it increasingly popular and is widely seen as a worthy alternative to Flash. Objective C programming skills have also become more valued, climbing up two places to number seven on our charts since 2011. Knowledge of Objective C has also started to become more sought-after since 2011, when it first entered our top 10. “On our market place we've been experiencing an increasing amount of programming jobs for tablet and smartphone apps. Above all, in the last six months the demand for individuals with skills in these areas has increased dramatically. We're now expecting to see a similar increase for the second half of the year due to the new iPad and iPhone 4S”, commented Gunnar Berning, CEO of twago.

Joomla, on the other hand, has decreased in popularity in comparison to 2011. Remaining at position eight in our top 10 throughout 2011, this year it has fallen two places to number 10. The Content Management System (CMS) belongs to an older generation and has been superseded by other, more widely developing skills, such as WordPress.
