Zina Age of Aniz, Inc is to be awarded Atlanta Best Charity

July 12, 2012 - PRLog -- Zina Age Founder of Aniz, Inc is to be awarded the First Atlanta Best Charity for ATL Best Of for 2012. Atlanta Best of is an event held at 200 Peachtree Street on the third thursday of each month, starting on July 19th, 2012 http://www.atlbestof.com. We recognize the work that Aniz has accomplished since 1996 being the first AIDS organization that started and continues working with multicultural children, high risk teens, LGBT youth in the GA Foster Care Program, heterosexual women, families and senior citizens on prevention and education to those affected and infected with AIDS.
Aniz, Inc is the Only African American AIDS Organization that is a direct benefiting Agency for the AIDS Walk in Atlanta. When AIDS is rising in our teens, college students, heterosexual women and seniors, Aniz from the start took on taking the lead to move past all other AIDS organizations that are solely  focused on MSM to walk a different path.

My name is Zina Age and I celebrate life and the blessings that I have received for the last 17 years that I have been helping children, teens, families, women and seniors affected and infected with HIV/AIDS. I am proud that Aniz is one of the only 8 participating agencies that will benefit from this walk with AIDS Walk Atlanta & 5K Run 2012!

As I reflect on my life working to help those living with HIV/AIDS, there have been many ups and downs. From the early 80’s with my young Godson at age 9, he didn't have any agency or anyone to turn to for support in Atlanta. He had a real challenge even going to school because teachers, principals, parents and students were afraid of him because of having AIDS. To my Aunt in Louisiana getting AIDS from someone she dated in her Church, and no agency there to support a senior heterosexual woman in the early 1990’s. I knew this was my calling that’s why I started Aniz to help those underserved. I have given a voice to those that are in Fear of disclosing and the fear of rejection.


At Aniz we have programs working with children, teen girls at risk, foster care teens, single women, and senior citizens. All these programs came from my early experiences with family members and working with the communities in Atlanta and Baton Rouge. Each time I walk I honor my Godson and Aunt that have passed on, but there legacy lives on at Aniz.

Currently I am honored that Aniz is again the Only African American agency participating that will benefit from this walk.
