Coni Good Receives Scottsdale Foothills Rotary Rotarian of the Year

July 10, 2012 - PRLog -- Coni Rae Good, an Arizona Business Attorney, has received the Rotarian of the Year Award from the Scottsdale Foothills Rotary Club due to her commitment to the principles of the club. Coni Good has been a member of the Scottsdale Foothills Rotary Club since 2008 and received the award this year for “upholding and furthering the principles and ideals of the Rotary Way of life.”

The two major contributions leading to Coni’s award were her guidance of the Club to service projects for Sojourner Center and the marketing of a successful shredding event which benefits the Foothills Food Bank and Foothills Animal Rescue.

Sojourner Center is both Arizona’s and the nation’s largest residence shelter from domestic violence.  Founded in 1977 by 12 Arizonans, Sojourner shelters approximately 3,000 women and children per year.  Coni received a Vanguard (volunteer) of the Year award from Sojourner in 2005 for pro bono real estate legal assistance involving a new campus.
After joining Rotary, Coni championed service projects with Sojourner Center.   Her Club undertook a 911 cell phone collection, renovation of a classroom, and painting of approximately 40 bedrooms, bathrooms, and hallways of a newly leased former nursing home.  The last project was extensive and is not complete.  The Club President, David Kistner of Wells Fargo Advisors obtained a $10,000 grant from his organization and the Rotary Club provided $5,000 for the renovation and operations.

As a result, Scottsdale Foothills Rotary Club received a Vanguard of the Year award on March 12, 2012.

The painting project continues today and is expected to be completed on Saturday, November 10 and Saturday, November 17, 2012.  Volunteers are are more than welcome to help in completed this philanthropic project; the only requirements are enthusiasm and willingness to give back.   No prior painting experience needed, however, volunteers should be 14 years or older.  

Partnering is expected and volunteers from the Scottsdale Boys and Girls Club, Wells Fargo Advisors, Sojourner Volunteers on call, and a local Rotary Interact (teenage) Club.
