Snell & Wilmer Co-Hosts Seminar with Navigant on Data Protection and Privacy

Tim Toohey, Partner at Snell & Wilmer, and Vishal Oza, Associate Director in Disputes and Investigations at Navigant, will present the seminar titled Demystifying Data Protection: Data Security in a Complex and Changing World. This seminar will focus on what existing and proposed data protection requirements mean to companies and practical steps companies should take to comply with those requirements. Timothy J. Toohey is a U.S. Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP). His practice is concentrated on complex litigation, intellectual property and privacy and data protection matters. He has extensive experience in all elements of intellectual property counseling and litigation, including trademark, copyright and patent matters. Tim’s experience includes the trial and arbitration of trademark, design patent and copyright infringement matters, as well as licensing and trade secret disputes.
Tim has been involved in numerous matters regarding privacy and data protection, including matters involving federal, state and international laws involving data breach and disclosure of personally identifiable information. His experience includes providing advice regarding the CAN-SPAM Act, Computer Fraud and Abuse Act, Digital Millennium Copyright Act, Electronic Communications Privacy Act, cloud computing and social media. He has also advised clients regarding California’s Song-Beverly Act, the California Security Breach Notice provisions and international privacy and security issues, including compliance with European Union (E.U.) data protection and privacy directives.
