Palmer Gulch Resort has accommodations available for the 2012 Sturgis Rally

As August 6 comes near, motorcyclists from around the country start their journey to the Midwest for the week-long Sturgis Rally. It is during this time of the year that the Black Hills sees some of its highest traffic, a large portion of which is due to the Sturgis Rally bikers.

According to the Sturgis City Rally Department, roughly 400,000 people attended the rally last year. “We get booked up really fast during the summer,” said Gwyn Wathen, Director of Lodging, Group Sales and Special Events at Palmer Gulch. “Bikers enjoy Palmer Gulch because they are close to many things to do in the Black Hills and they have a scenic drive into Sturgis for the rally.”
Some of attractions close by Palmer Gulch in the Black Hills include the famous mountain sculptures, Mount Rushmore and Crazy Horse, as well as a number of water sport activities. Home to some of the longest caves in the world, the Black Hills is surrounded by adventurous attractions for all ages. To give visitors traveling by motorcycle a chance to stretch their legs, various hiking opportunities are within close proximity to the Hill City resort, including Harney Peak -- the highest point east of the Rocky Mountains.
