SYNTHEON ACCEL-E Wall Panels Provide
“Exceptionally Faster” Installation for Church Project

Steel Thermal Efficient Wall System Used for Two New Wings
at Covenant Presbyterian Church in Lubbock, TX

PITTSBURGH, PA  — ACCEL-E® Steel Thermal Efficient wall panels, manufactured by Pittsburgh-based SYNTHEON Inc., provided “exceptionally faster” installation time for a church project in Lubbock, TX, according to the general contracting firm.

The ACCEL-E wall system was installed for two additions to Covenant Presbyterian Church located at the intersection of 48th Street and Salem Avenue.  The additions, totaling a combined 5,800 square feet, were needed for the church’s children and music ministries.

The additions are accompanied by ongoing remodeling work for the existing church building.  The price tag for the complete project is $1.3 million.

“The installation was much faster for the ACCEL-E panels than for conventional wall systems,” says Jimmy Pharr, co-founder and Vice President of Lubbock-based Pharr & Company, the General Contractor for the project.  The company was founded in 1976.

“The walls went up easily, and with its green benefits, ACCEL-E a super product that I would recommend to anyone,” Jimmy Pharr says. “It looks to be the system of the future.”

Jason Pharr, Project Manager, added that because the installation team had never worked with ACCEL-E there were concerns about a possible delay. “Instead, the trades picked it up very quickly,” he says.

The SYNTHEON ACCEL-E® Steel Thermal Efficient Panel wall system is a lightweight, easy-to-install, high performance solution that shortens construction time, optimizes crew use, greatly improves energy efficiency – and does it all in just one installation process. ACCEL-E takes an unprecedented approach to the way exterior walls are built by reducing framing and insulating processes down to a single step.

ACCEL-E does not require architects to change the way they design walls or limit choice in exterior cladding types, nor does it require contractors to learn new construction methods or invest in specialized equipment.

The secret behind the exceptional construction efficiency of ACCEL-E is an exclusive manufacturing process that combines the strength and performance of cold-formed steel framing with the superior insulation properties of expandable polystyrene (EPS).  The EPS insulation is factory molded and mechanically fused to the specially designed slotted stud that virtually eliminates thermal bridging. No other wall system replaces framing, cavity insulation and continuous rigid foam insulation in such an easy, one-step installation process.

ACCEL-E panels span any height, limited only by mode of panel transport.  As a result, multiple floors can be completed by installing a single panel. Unlike batt insulation, the ACCEL-E system’s EPS is unaffected by moisture and provides an effective air barrier in any climate zone.
