By: Autogas That’s because at the newly rebranded Shell garage, it typically costs around half to fill up a car converted to run on Autogas LPG than it does with petrol. And with petrol prices recently reaching record levels and many household budgets feeling the economic squeeze, the entrance of Autogas, a joint venture between Shell and Calor, couldn’t be better timed. Paul Oxford, business development manager, Autogas, said: “If ever there was a time to switch to LPG then it must be now. Hard hit motorists have been faced with petrol prices going through the roof but if they are filling up with Autogas then they typically pay around half the price, which means average savings of 40 per cent on their annual running costs. Indeed, drivers filling up this week with LPG from our new site will pay just 70.9 pence per litre compared with 133.9 for petrol”. Other benefits include greener motoring as vehicles running on LPG emit far fewer of the harmful emissions associated with traditional road fuels that contribute to environmental and health problems. Being a Shell site also means that Autogas drivers can enjoy the benefits offered by the Shell Drivers’ Club when they fill up, including money off Shell fuel and shopping vouchers. The new Autogas refuelling station at Newark is part of an on-going expansion programme which will see Autogas add a further 20 sites to its UK network in 2012. Indeed, there are currently more than 1,400 LPG refuelling stations in the UK making it readily and easily available. For more information about the benefits of Autogas LPG visit www.autogas.ltd.uk.
