Sardonic sitcom "The Club" In Finals Of 2012 Chicago Comedy TV Pilot Competition
The waitressing comedy "The Club" is one of four finalists in this year's Chicago Comedy TV Pilot Competition. The finalists are viewed by a jury of Hollywood executives and will be screened for the public July 20 at the Chicago Cultural Center.
Created by Susan Athey and released by Rich Mahogany Productions, "The Club" is set at a posh country club in suburban Chicago and centers around three waitresses, Alison (Misti Patrella), Dana (Amy Hunt), and Sarah (Christine O'Keefe). Alison and Dana are jaded best friends/career waitresses in their 30's and Sarah is a bratty new hire reluctantly taking a job after being kicked out of college.
The series is inspired by Athey's days waiting tables at various Michigan country clubs. Her husband is the show's editor and sound designer. Together they head up Chicago-based Rich Mahogany Productions.
Other finalists in this year's competition include "DearWolfe" (created by Rust Belt Vendetta Productions)
The Chicago Comedy TV Pilot Competition is produced by Marion Sours, (312) 642-2156, in association with The Chicago Film Office, (312) 744-6415.
