Chowdercessity is the mother of all invention! New contest added for Chowderfest 2012

July 9, 2012 - PRLog -- Anyone who has ever attended Chowderfest has seen them, the clever and the prepared who bring egg cartons, muffin tins and pie pans to hold the sample chowder cups while in the trenches of the White or Red Chowder tents. In the heat of the sampling, there is just not enough hands to hold the coveted cups.  Somehow, they evolved, these chowder cup caddies into works of art, extreme function and sometimes even serving a high purpose.

The Southern Ocean County Chamber of Commerce has announced that at the 24th Annual Chowderfest, the chowder cup caddies will have their day. Any Chowderfest attendee may enter their invention during the September 30 Chowder Cook off Classic taking place at Taylor Avenue Ballfield behind Bay Village in Beach Haven. The Chowderfest Committee hopes that both the loyal and the first time Chowderheads will take this contest to heart and develop the perfect, the unusual and the exceptional chowder cup caddy.

Details for the contest will be available at www.visitLBIregion.com along with Chowderfest Weekend information including Merchant Mart on September 29. Entry forms for the popular Chowder Challenge can also be downloaded so contestants can eat their way to 10 resturants that were Chowderfest Competitors in 2011. Black Whale, Chicken or the Egg, Country Kettle Chowda, Bistro 14, Gourmet Deli, Four Cs Sons, Greenhouse Cafe, Panzones, Stefanos and California Grill are all stops. Spend ten dollars at each resturant, submit entry form to Southern Ocean County Chamber of Commerce before 9/10/12 and receive one complimentary Chowderfest 2012 General Admission ticket, a chowder challenge t shirt and chance to win the grand prize Kindle Fire sponsored by The Van Dyk Group. There is no entry fees for either contest, but receipts are needed for Chowder Challenge to confirm purchase.
