July 9, 2012 - PRLog -- Fifty Shades of Grey has taken the UK by storm. But without valuable publicity in so many newspapers, magazines and websites, it would never have achieved such amazing success.

But now help is at hand for new novelists with a story to sell about their book. Media agency www.featureworld.co.uk runs a department dedicated to helping writers gain invaluable publicity about their new book.

"Often authors have a personal story behind writing their book," says agency owner Alison Smith-Squire, "and we are able to sell a story to a national newspaper, magazine or TV with a plug for their new novel.
"Or in some cases someone's real-life story that we sell to a newspaper or magazine is picked up by a publisher and turned into a book."

She cites recently published author Terrie O'Brian. After coming to featureworld.co.uk to sell her real-life abuse story, it was placed by the agency in a national newspaper and magazine. The features were then spotted by a literary agent and her book Nobody Cared was recently published by PanMacMillan.

Terrie says: "Getting my real-life story published in the press was a dream come true as it  enabled me to sell my story as a book."

Featureworld also runs a specialist magazine for writers, www.sellyourstoryuk.com. The ezine regularly publishes tips on getting a book published as well as free DIY PR ideas for novelists and those wanting to break into a writing career.

"Our most popular slot is Author Spot where an author talks about their new book and their road to publication. We are happy to accept submissions from self published and traditionally published authors. Obviously if we are able to gain them publicity in the mainstream press then we endeavour to do so, but if not then at the very least we are able to promote them to the thousands - including the very many editors and other media professionals who regularly read SellYourStoryUK.
