-- Described as a cross between Einstein and Jimi Hendrix, Dr Lewney is an expert rock guitarist with a PhD in guitar acoustics. He will explain the “science of rock” with the help of riffs from AD/DC, Slayer and the legendary Jimi.
Along the way he will provide a glimpse into the world of physics and share the wonders of the universe. You can find out what the universe was like in its first trillionth of a second and discover how to break the sound barrier. Doctor Lewney will also demystify the latest news about the discovery of the Higgs Boson “God” particle.
The Cardiff Science Festival – back after an absence of seven years – runs for a week from next Monday 9 and aims to showcase science and technology over 40 events including workshops, live demonstrations, performances, lectures and debates.
As a partner in the Festival, Techniquest is also running one of its popular After Hours events on Thursday 12 July with Science Junkie Huw James while on Sunday 15 July; science broadcaster Rhys Phillips takes a look at how lightning forms and the research he is involved in developing new ways to protect aircraft from lightning strike damage.
