PRLog -- If you live in New York City there is a good chance that numerous key copies exist for your apartment amongst previous tenants and service men. The possibilities are limitless and it is highly advisable that you change your cylinders immediately upon moving in. When changing a lock or cylinder we advise calling a Locksmith in Brooklyn and request a selection of locks and cylinders so you may choose what is best for you. Medeco is an excellent product that offers quality construction and it is high security. Most people prefer to not change the locks until they are left with no alternative. My suggestion is to always change your locks amongst taking possession of a new living or work space. Many management companies request that you leave a copy of your keys so they are able to gain access in case of an emergency . Many people install High Security Locks because they like key restriction but often give copies to friends and contractors only to leave themselves open to be victomized. There are many Brands of high security locks but the two most popular are Medeco and Multi Lock. In order for a key to be restricted it must have a code for key duplication and maybe a restriction on the key itself meaning that not even the key blank can be obtained with out proper authority. The owner of the rights to this key blank would have to personally grant you access to copies as none will exist elsewhere but threw the manufacturer of the lock.
