The Buckingham Becomes First in Houston to Offer Masterpiece Living

July 7, 2012 - PRLog -- The Buckingham, a 501(c)3 not-for-profit senior living community sponsored by Senior Quality Lifestyles Corporation (SQLC), is one of the first retirement communities in the state to offer Masterpiece Living®, an initiative to expand and maximize health, vitality and independence for their residents.   The Buckingham is the only community to offer the innovative program in Houston.

A launch celebration with residents, guests and staff at The Buckingham featured Dr. David Gobble, Director Emeritus of Masterpiece Living® and Director and Professor of Ball State’s Fisher Institute for Wellness and Gerontology, who spoke on successful aging.  Dr. Gobble has been recognized by the National Wellness Institute as one of the top 100 wellness experts in the world.  He shared the Masterpiece Living® philosophy and the many success stories from senior living communities throughout the country.

“Launching Masterpiece Living has brought a new found excitement to our community,” said Cathy Lightfoot, director of sales and marketing at The Buckingham.  “The week was full of exciting events, all with an Olympic theme seen throughout the week to coincide with the upcoming summer Olympic Games.  Both residents and staff had a blast!”

SQLC will also introduce Masterpiece Living® at the sister communities of The Buckingham – Edgemere in Dallas, Querencia at Barton Creek in Austin, Mirador in Corpus Christi and The Stayton at Museum Way in Fort Worth.

Founded in 1999 by Larry Landry, the goal of Masterpiece Living® is to increase the overall health and involvement of a community’s population.  As a part of the partnership with The Buckingham, Masterpiece Living® will provide training programs and tools for evaluating and tracking residents’ and community progress including health assessment resources from the Mayo Clinic.
