July 6, 2012 - PRLog -- The San Diego Flash (11 - 2 - 0), who defeated second placed Fullerton Rangers 5-1 last week, will remain undefeated for the entire regular season if it avoids defeat this weekend against playoffs contender Santa Clarita Storm (7 – 3 – 4).

The Flash is looking to create history by winning the National Championship in front of its home fans. The National Premier Soccer League Championships (NPSL) will be hosted by the Flash right here in San Diego from July 27 - 29.

This final regular season match will be hard fought. The Storm are guaranteed the final post-season spot should it win and the Flash on the verge of an amazing season without losing a game. Both teams have their own motivation for a strong result and it should be a cracking game. Kick-off is at 5pm at Canyon High School, Santa Clarita.

Flash Head Coach, Warren Barton said that the pressure was all on Santa Clarita this weekend.

“It doesn’t matter if we don’t go through the season undefeated. The reality is that we are playing some great soccer at the moment and we will be a strong finals contender regardless of Saturdays result.

“The Storm on the other hand know they must win, and win in front of their home fans to see playoff action. We know this and I’m afraid to say it’s not in our nature to take a game lightly. As you can see when we played Fullerton (who were in the same situation) last week, we played a strong match against them for the win.” Barton said.

The NPSL Western Conference Finals start next week when the Flash host the second placed team (still to be determined) in the West-Northern Division on Saturday July 14 at Del Norte High (7pm Kick-Off).

The NPSL Championship weekend will be a 'Final Four' style, 3 day event. Winners of four Conferences of the 49 teams nationwide will earn their way to San Diego through playoffs which begin in mid-July.
