Passaic Rubber unveils Neoprene Peel & Stick Rubber Flashing

The Passiac Rubber Co. has just added highly compatible Neoprene Peel & Stick rubber flashing to their product line. This allows the user to simply apply their rubber flashing as they would a sticker, making the task of sealing outdoor applications easy enough for a kindergartener.

Says Keith Weber, President of the Keith Weber Company, a roofing and water-proofing business in the San Francisco bay area, “They (Passaic Rubber) have the best flashing. I love their new neoprene Peel & Stick  said Webber who just recently opened a roofing accessories supply business. “I can sell a ton of it because it’s more versatile and durable than anything out there.

The commonly available self bonding rubber   flashing, also known by its chemical name as EPDM, is suitable for waterproofing and roofing because of its malleability and long-term resiliency. It is generally sold in a sheet of varying thickness and then cut and applied.  However for repairs or sealing other kind of materials, EPDM is not compatible and the seal will fail.  

Rubber Co. president JD Mathey said “Neoprene Peel & Stick rubber flashing works in a similar way as EPDM, but is designed to be permanently seal metal, fiberglass, concrete, EPDM, asphalt and most other materials.” People in the commercial construction, roofing and waterproofing industries know the advantages of neoprene such as its resistance to chemicals, petroleum products and resists bleeding or softening like EPDM.  Mathey continued “ professionals like its simplicity and it is actually stronger than normal flashing too.”  While not available to the retail do-it-your-self due to package sizes, smaller roofing contractors and waterproofing companies can obtain the products Peel & Stick through roofing distributers.  

Asked if this product is suitable for the consumer market Mathey replied ”it certainly is because it is flexible and easy to apply without a box full of chemical bonding agents.”   Mathey would not comment about discussions  with “big box” stores  or other national chains.
