Bonitas marks 30th year with virtual journey

July 5, 2012 - PRLog -- The Bonitas Medical Fund, a major sponsor of the Comrades Marathon 2012, used its participation at the event to celebrate its 30th anniversary and take customers and partners on an online journey in the form of The Bonitas Comrades Experience.

Syncrony was called in to support and regularly update the Bonitas Comrades Experience website, which was used to report on the six-day commemoration initiative, including several pre-marathon activities and participation in the Comrades Marathon.

These activities included the planting of 30 000 trees as part of a community development initiative and exhibiting in the Comrades Expo, for which the Bonitas won Best Exhibitor Award.

As its client’s premier website and content management services provider, Syncrony was requested to help set up and manage the website for the duration of the commemoration and the Comrades Marathon itself.

This called for 18-hour daily support with hourly updates on all activity explains Howard Rybko, CEO of Syncrony.

Rybko said the main challenge was to ensure that all content, including up to 200 images, were uploaded as quickly as possible.

“Our objective was to actively update the content, quickly and accurately, on a daily basis. Pages had to be made ready in advance of receiving content to be published. For example, the profile of each Team Bonitas runner was created and uploaded. Race information was updated and made available, along with banners and images. There was also a special section, specifically for the Comrades race, which required at least daily updates,” he adds.

Management at Bonitas was impressed with the level of service from Syncrony and acknowledged the significant volume of content that had to be proactively managed.

“Syncrony pledged their support of Bonitas’ sponsorship of Comrades from the build-up to the events. As Bonitas’ view of the Comrades Experience had to be dynamic and relevant, it was quite a challenge to accumulate the material that was to be used. It was a truly extraordinary effort by Syncrony that created the journey for the website visitor. The skills and dedication of the Syncrony team have proven themselves to be truly remarkable!” says Gary Salgado, IT Manager at Bonitas.
