Sheffield Manor Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Detroit Earns a Five-Star Government Rating
Sheffield Manor, a Ciena Healthcare managed skilled nursing facility, has earned the Five-Star Quality Rating from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).
Five stars is the highest and most respected rating a nursing home can receive, and is based on health inspections, staffing and quality measures.
“At Sheffield Manor Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, we strive for excellence and it is an honor to be recognized for the high quality care we provide our residents on a daily basis,” said Zahid Maqsood, administrator. “Every member of our staff is very proud of this accomplishment. This Five-Star rating acknowledges our commitment for delivering exemplary care in a safe, compassionate and home-like environment.”
CMS developed the Five-Star Quality Rating System to assist consumers, their families and caregivers in finding and comparing nursing homes more easily and to help identify areas to ask questions.
The rating system for U.S. nursing homes was modeled after the American Automobile Association's worldwide rating of hotels. It gauges comprehensive aspects of elder care, including staff-to-resident ratio, cleanliness, staff ability to prevent and treat simple medical problems and attention paid to upkeep of patient appearance.
“This Five-Star rating is consistent with the high level of service, quality and responsive patient care that is provided by this Ciena Healthcare facility 365 days a year,” said Tricia Tomkinson, regional director of operations, Ciena Healthcare. “We are extremely proud of this recognition and our dedicated, hard-working team of professionals at Sheffield Manor Nursing & Rehabilitation Center who work to meet and exceed each resident’s needs.”
Sheffield Manor Nursing & Rehabilitation Center also is a recent recipient of the American Health Care Association and National Center for Assisted Living (AHCA/NCAL) “Bronze – Commitment to Quality” National Quality Award. The award is given annually by the organization to recognize commitment and continuous delivery of quality care.
“Sheffield consistently provides caring, professional skilled nursing care to the residents of Detroit and southeast Michigan,” added Tomkinson. “The facility’s stable leadership is a comfort to our residents and their families. The Administrator and staff are very deserving of this honor.”
