July 3, 2012 - PRLog -- FOLSOM, CA USA:  The Battle Won, Blue Note Fund Edition takes the reader through the Henniger family's journey to defeat colon cancer and provides financial assistance to current cancer patients.   The Henniger’s journey started with Randy’s diagnosis of Stage III colon cancer at age thirty. Eight days later, Randy underwent surgery to remove a softball size tumor and a portion of his colon, requiring a permanent colostomy. Together, the family has defeated colon cancer and is donating proceeds from the sale of their book and eBook directly to current cancer patients in need through the Blue Note Fund, a Colon Cancer Alliance (CCA) financial assistance program.

“When invited to join the review committee at the Colon Cancer Alliance's Blue Note Fund, we quickly agreed,” said Randy Henniger, co-author or The Battle Won! "We had no idea how difficult it would be or how much we would be affected by the stories we heard. Every application painted a picture of a family desperately needing support and assistance while fighting colon cancer. Knowing that we couldn’t give everyone an award due to limited funds brought us to tears. We had to do something to help.”

That’s when they put pen to paper, recounting their own family’s battle with the disease. Slowly but surely, a book started to take shape. The decision to donate proceeds from its sale to the Blue Note Fund was a no-brainer for the Hennigers, who knew too well the financial demands that a cancer diagnosis can bring.

Patricia Henniger, co-author says about their lives today; “We’ve won the battle against cancer as a family together. Randy has been cancer free for 26 years. Our boys are full grown and happy, handsome and healthy. We will never forget what has happened to our family; the pain, worry and fear. But those times are behind us now and they have brought us together is a very special way.”
