Coral Eclipse Free Betting Tips

Looking ahead to this Saturday it would have been great to see Frankel take on So You Think in the Coral Eclipse Stakes, but Sir Henry Cecil’s unbeaten superstar is now looking more likely to head for the Sussex Stakes around four weeks time.

July 2, 2012 - PRLog -- This will, therefore, leave the door wide open for Aidan O’Brien’s So You Think to follow up his win in the race 12 months ago, as he looks to become the first horse to land back-to-back Eclipses since Halling in 1995-96.

He’s the clear favourite in the betting and you can expect him to shorten up even more as the week goes on, while having already seen off two of his main rivals, Carlton House and Farhh, in last month’s Prince Of Wales’s Stakes at Royal Ascot then he’s going to be a tough nut to crack as he goes for his 11th Group One win.

There was 2 ¼ lengths between So You Think and Carlton House last time and with the Queen’s horse still looking for his first win at the top level you suspect that, although clearly a classy horse, he’s just shy of the top grade – especially when the race has a 10-time Group One winner in the line-up.

However, the third at Royal Ascot, Farhh, is sure to have his supporters as this Godolphin-owned 4 year-old was certainly the eye-catcher back in third that day. Yes, he’s still got around 3 lengths to find with the O’Brien horse, based on that running, but he was hampered by the hanging and weakening Planteur that day, so with a clearer run and this stiff finish sure to suit he does rate an obvious danger.

Of the rest, John Gosden’s Nathaniel, who won last season’s King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Diamond Stakes at Ascot, could make his return to the track here, and with the yard in such fine fettle then if at the top of his game he’s certainly got the form to win this.

The final one worth a mention is Epsom Derby sixth, Bonfire. He disappointed that day, but a combination of seemingly not handling the track and not staying the 1m4f trip are good enough reasons to think back in distance this year’s Dante Stakes winner is worthy of his place in the field.

I just hope the field doesn’t cut up too much during the week, and with Godolphin’s record in the race I respect their Farhh, but I still think the safest call is to stick with So You Think, who looked right back to his best last time. Those against him might cling to the fact we’ve not had a winner older than 5 in the last 52 runnings, but let’s not forget the Ballydoyle team don’t have a bad record in the race either - with five victories already under their belt - and So You Think can buck that age stat.

If you like your trends and facts, here are some to look out for ahead of Saturday’s race.......
