Internet Sector - Brazil (OKTO FINANCE)

June 29, 2012 - PRLog -- Although there is now a considerable number of Internet users in Brazil, one adopts a way of increasing access for broadband, wireless and a quality infrastructure for the establishment and operation of an efficient electronic business, the number of companies working in this sector is still not enough to meet the needs and opportunities in the market for online businesses. The major players in this segment are still large corporations (such as banks and large retail chains), with the scale and resources to develop their own trading platforms, and certainly the government agencies that also has an important role, as well as large communication networks.

Brazil has a universe of  over 200 million mobile phones (represents over 1 mobile phone per inhabitant), mobility will increasingly be on the phone, laptops and tablets. The growth in sales of smartphones with data plans more affordable progressively offered by operators will popularize mobile INTERNET.


The  Brazilian market for Internet (and its segments - E-Commerce, Advertising, Content and Infrastructure), is projected to reach more than US$ 30 billion in 2011.With  a possible growth of 10% for 2012.

Brazil has also seen a demand over the last few years for Entertainment, mainly due to the improvent in the quality of life, generated by a stable and growing economy.  This has had a spositive impact on on-line businesses offering entertainment alternatives especially for young Brazilians. On-line sales and promotion of large cultural events - such as music, theatre and sports have boosted a number of business to sell tickets for these events online.
