Johns Hopkins Dental group, a referral service that promotes dental tourism in Costa Rica ceased its plans to have operation on U.S. soil yesterday.  Vice President Howard Siegler said “the new healthcare law which was held up in large part by the Supreme Court yesterday will likely have a serious negative impact on our business model and our ability to employ the number of people we had hoped to employ.  

Operating entirely in Costa Rica will enable us to keep our costs down and provide the highest level of service to our clients.  Also, we think this sends a clear signal to the marketplace that we want the general public to know we maintain boots on the ground at all times in Costa Rica.  Moving forward, it will be clear to the general public that even though we operate solely as  referral service, not as a provider of Medical Services of any kind, that our commitment to our mission is better served by having all operations located in Costa Rica.”  

The company is also considering changing its name to the Hopkins Dental Group.  Siegler said “small changes like this not only make it easier for us to greet our customers quicker each and every time the phone rings, the additional space we will make available on our website and business cards will enable us to provide a greater depth of information to our clients.
