Advertising With A Twist To Break A World Record

An advertising website has begun a campaign to create the largest advertisement on a building. All by taking an old idea, and making it new again.

June 28, 2012 - PRLog -- Aubrey Hankins, 28, is attempting to create a billboard, but not the kind you're thinking of. This billboard, must be at least 205,865.02 ft²; beating the current world record set by Chinese newspaper The Financial Times almost ten years ago. Hankins, who is moving to New York in August, has set his sights on Manhattan as the perfect location to place such a billboard.

The idea began with a website, http://www.WorldRecordAdvertising.com, and was launched this past week. The homepage of http://www.WorldRecordAdvertising.com is filled with 50x50px blocks, all ready to be purchased by interested advertisers. The advertiser then uploads their name or logo, which will then be immortalized on the website and contain the advertisers link. The homepage will then be used as a template to create the world record billboard. Hankins believes that his idea would not only attract attention as an alternative advertising platform, but will also attract New York & national attention through press leading up to, and following, the creation of the world record billboard.

It has to be said that this is not the first time someone has tried to sell advertising space on a website. Online advertising is one of the largest and hardest business to break into. Hankins though, is not worried about past websites using this platform. He is confident that no one has ever been so brash as to try and use such an idea to create a billboard, let alone a billboard of this size. And to his credit, he's right.
