Ohio Inventor Launches The Period Pride Movement, In Hopes That All Ladies Will Have A Proud Period!

June 28, 2012 - PRLog -- Entrepreneur, inventor, and healthcare professional, Vida Calender, of Cincinnati, Ohio, launched the “Period Pride Movement” on Friday, June 22, 2012! It wasn’t until after inventing Period Panteez, which were launched in March, that Vida realized just how ashamed ladies are about having their period.  “Period Panteez really opened my eyes to how embarrassed girls truly are about their periods”, Vida said.  “I was aware that there was a huge void in the marketplace for well-made, authentic period underwear, and that all women who menstruate need them, as it was the inspiration for my product. But after realizing how humiliated ladies are about menstruation, I knew that I had to start a movement to help change the taboo about periods!

Statistics show that on average, girls get their first period at age 12 and menstruate for approximately 40 years of their lives. Studies have shown that at or about ‘period’ age, there is an increase in the number of girls who stop playing sports, become less active, and even drop out of gym class at school.

Vida feels that through education and communication, the ignorance and stigma associated with periods can be reversed.  “I didn’t learn anything about women’s menstrual cycles until I was a grown man. As Vida so poetically stated on the Period Pledge website, “It is an inevitable occurrence.  It is a woman’s rite of passage.  It is a gift from God.  Without it, life wouldn’t even exist.  And way too many of us are ashamed of it!
