Caring for Aging Parents - The Empty Nesters

June 28, 2012 - PRLog -- With children all grown up and gone, most of the baby boomers face a syndrome known as empty nest syndrome. This is a kind of depression that sets in, when your ‘apple of the eyes’ is gone. With each passing year, many baby boomers come of age and realize that they are on their own, once again.

While there are some boomers who feel that they are finally free to explore things that were not possible with kids around; there are others, who cannot bear the thought of separation. Such individuals suffer from anxiety and apprehension.  

Also known as “flower children”, these baby boomers have since come a long way and are now enjoying, living with freedom. With kids getting busy with their lives and careers, baby boomers have to find ways that can help them overcome the loneliness that they are experiencing at this stage in life.   Joining clubs and hobby centers is a good way to spend some quality time.  Their whole lives were spent, looking after us and now, they just want to live their dreams.  

Gone are the days when they would just wait for us to return from college and fix us delicious meals.  The baby boomers should take heart in knowing that their children will come back to their nest during festivals and special occasions.

One fact that cannot be forgotten is that a bird always returns to its own nest, no matter how far it flies off. Same goes for children too.  It would be a same thing to just go with the flow and enjoy this time, while you can.
